Emojis are available for Facebook and Instagram ads.
Emoji are extensions to the character set used by most operating systems today, Unicode. For example this beautiful heart: ❤
Question: Is there anything to keep in mind when running ad sets across both Facebook and Instagram? Will my emojis appear?
Answer: Emojis will be rendered as empty boxes for Audience Network and Right Hand Column placements.

Emoticons
Emoticons are a combination of characters forming an image. Facebook transfers some emoticons into pictures, emojis.

You can use emoticons, for example, <3 <(") (^^^) which will become a heart, a penguin and a shark in Facebook.

You can publish a post with emoticons and that will work fine, as long as the emoticons are Facebook compatible. We don't have a full list of emoticons collected and which work, which don't. Feel free to test!
At the moment Smartly.io preview for video ads does not support emoticon conversion. However, emoticons are supported for all ad types.
